About
Ideas from books that lasted, in plain words.
We read each book, checked its claims, and wrote it four ways: short ideas you can read in a minute, the book in plain words, a long read, and stories for bedtime. Where a claim didn’t hold up, we say so.
How it’s written
We use words a twelve-year-old knows, one idea at a time. Every idea names the book it comes from and says nothing the book doesn’t. We make the wording plainer and keep the idea as the author meant it.
Four ways to read every book
- The ideas. Each one fifty words or fewer, short enough to read in a minute.
- In plain words. The whole book retold simply enough for a thirteen-year-old, with a short summary.
- The long read. The book’s full argument for an adult, with short quotes and what didn’t hold up.
- For the little ones. Read aloud at bedtime, with a note for the grown-up.
Today’s idea and saving ideas
A new idea goes up every day at midnight Pacific time. Ideas you save are kept on this device, or with your account if you sign in. You don’t need an account to read anything.
Who makes it
Enjoy The Road is made by AZ.dev. We build learning software: our main app, at az.dev, finds out what you already know about a subject and teaches you from there. This library is free to read, and it’ll stay free.
