An idea from Either/Or

The last of A’s papers is a diary kept by a seducer named Johannes. He courts a girl called Cordelia so carefully that she later can’t tell who seduced whom. He gets engaged to her, then steers her into breaking it off herself. Once she gives in, he leaves.
